Village of Whitehall Dissolution Plan

Village of Whitehall Dissolution Plan

Welcome to the Village of Whitehall Dissolution Plan Website. This website is intended to provide information regarding the development of a Board initiated Village Dissolution Plan and to keep the community informed about opportunities to participate in the process. Upon completion of the Village Dissolution Plan, the final document will be posted here as a tool to help the electorate of the Village of Whitehall make an informed decision in a potential upcoming referendum regarding whether or not to dissolve the Village

Background

The Village Board has resolved to explore the option of dissolution of the Village government, which would result in absorption of governance and services by the Town of Whitehall. The Village has received a New York State Citizen Reorganization Grant (CREG) to fund the development of the Dissolution Plan.

This website will be updated regularly as relevant documents, meeting updates, and additional information becomes available. Please check back often for updates. Why Develop a Dissolution Plan?

In accordance with New York State General Municipal Law Article 17-A, the Village Board is undertaking the development of a Board initiated Village Dissolution Plan prior to a potential referendum to assist the citizens of the Village of Whitehall in making an informed decision when voting in a potential referendum.

This Village Dissolution Plan is being developed to answer as many questions as possible and to provide unbiased assessments regarding potential post-dissolution conditions and key issues that voters should consider while making their decision and casting their vote should the Village Board choose to move this forward to a referendum.
