TRANSPORTATION

Laberge Group provides consulting, design and construction inspection services for many types of transportation projects. Our professionals have completed numerous projects for state and local governments and private entities with tasks ranging from Traffic Analysis and Corridor Studies to Final Design and Construction Inspection. We offer planning, strategies and solutions, research for potential funding sources, and assistance to clients from the project's onset through completion.

 

HIGHWAY
Route 151 Corridor Study

Study to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety as well as access management including development of conceptual designs, cost estimates, and feasibility assessments related to providing pedestrian and bicycle safety, and access management along Luther Road (NY Route 151), East Greenbush, New York.

Route 5 Reconstruction
Preliminary engineering and final roadway design of multi-lane arterial, Central Avenue-State Street, in Albany and Schenectady Counties. Preliminary and Final Design Plans included preparation of typical roadway section; horizontal and vertical alignments; traffic control plans; signing and pavement marking plans; guide railing, curbs and sidewalks, drainage modifications, report on design, roadway plans, temporary erosion control; miscellaneous details; engineer’s cost estimates.

Jupiter Lane Realignment
This project consisted of eliminating two signalized T-intersections on Central Avenue (NYS Route 5) via realignment of Jupiter Lane to form a 4-way intersection at Central Avenue and Locust Park.

Access Management Plan
As part of the Preliminary and Final Design project for the Rehabilitation of Central Avenue/State Street, Laberge Group developed Access Management Plans for various commercial establishments in order to improve/standardize commercial driveway access along the corridor.

Third Street & Third Avenue
Reconstruction of Third Street and a portion of Third Avenue, minor urban arterial highways in the City of Rensselaer, New York. In addition to pavement reconstruction, this project includes reset/new curbs, new sidewalks, rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer system, new storm sewer system, waterline modifications and improvements, improved bicycle access, new parking lanes and upgraded traffic signal system.

Sand Creek Road/Sunset Boulevard
Design and installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Sand Creek Road and Sunset Boulevard.

BRIDGE/CULVERT
Binninger Road Bridge
Rehabilitation of a historically significant bridge with laid-up field stone substructure and 3 inch thick timber deck superstructure supported by three steel beams and two timber beams. The selected alternative involved removal and disposal of the existing superstructure; excavation of the west abutment by 4 feet to increase the hydraulic capacity of the structure; storage of the excavated stones on site for later use; construction of concrete foundation for the rebuilt abutment; rebuilding the abutment using the previously-excavated stones; modification of the east abutment for the new superstructure; construction of a new superstructure with a timber railing system; and grouting of the stones at both abutments.

Route 80 Bridge Reconstruction
Preliminary engineering and final design for the replacement of four bridges (BINS 1030730, 1030740, 1030750, 1030790), along NYS Route 80 and reconstruction of approximately 1.3 km of highway.

Region 8 Culverts
Inventory and inspection of approximately 1,230 large culverts in Columbia , Duchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, and Westchester counties. The work included creation of a database of all large culverts (5'0" TO 20'0") owned by NYSDOT within the referenced counties. Each culvert was located using GPS technology and inspected using current NYSDOT and FHWA Standards, and the NYSDOT “Culvert Inventory and Inspection Manual.”

PARKING
Gurley Parking
Historic Gurley Building and Parking Renovation in downtown Troy, New York. The majority of its parking requirements are met by the newly expanded and upgraded parking facility on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Fulton Street. The lot contains 129 spaces including handicap parking and spaces dedicated to snow storage during the winter months.

ConMed Parking & Site Improvements
Preliminary and final design of the east and west parking areas. Preliminary Design included developing several parking lot options to maximize the number of parking spaces, which included driveway access options location. Final design included preparation of parking site plans with raised islands, landscaping amenities, striped parking spaces, drainage modifications, new curbing and driveway access layout.

PEDESTRIAN/BIKE PATH/TRAILS
Sand Creek Road Pedestrian Improvements
Preliminary and final design for the rehabilitation of a section of Sand Creek Road. Activities included preparation of roadway plans, roadway profiles, typical sections, driveway access improvements, proposed curbs and sidewalks along the North side, storm sewer modifications, miscellaneous details, maintenance and protection of traffic plans, preparation of contract documents, engineer’s cost estimates, provided on-site construction inspection and preparation of As-built plans.

Lincoln Avenue Pedestrian/Bike Path
This project provided for the placement of bicycle and pedestrian access facility along Lincoln Avenue from NYS Route 5 to Cook Park access road.

Cook Park Pedestrian/Bike Path
Approximately one mile of Pedestrian/Bikeway trail was planned, developed and constructed utilizing Village funds.

German Flatts Canalway Trail
Preliminary and final design services for a 2.1-mile trail segment of the NYS Canalway Trail and Fort Herkimer Church Heritage Park (trailhead facility) along the southerly shoreline of the Erie Canal/Mohawk River from Route 28 Bridge over the Erie Canal and Mohawk River to the Fort Herkimer Church Heritage Park.
