Gurley Building Parking Lot - Troy, New York

Historic Gurley Building in downtown Troy has the majority of its parking requirements met by the newly expanded and upgraded parking facility on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Fulton Street. The lot contains 129 spaces including handicap parking and spaces dedicated to snow storage during the winter months. To keep in fitting with the historic nature of the building it services, decorative metal fencing with brick posts surround the lot along with appropriate landscaping and sidewalk and curbing improvements to provide a pleasing appearance to the traveling public.
Planning for the lot involved negotiating with the city for the use of an existing city owned alley and the demolition of a dilapidated structure. The lot itself is constructed of binder and base course asphalt placed over an improved subgrade. The lot is designed to drain to the city storm sewer system. Preliminary and Final Design included the preparation of plans, specifications and engineer's opinion of construction cost.
